The mainsail is the most important one on the boat and is hoisted up each time you go sailing; so hoisting and lowering it must be easy, as must reducing the surface area when the wind level increases. The Hood Easi-Stow Mainsail simplifies all these operations, and doesn't require a numerous and expert crew. When reefing, the long battens prevent the mainsail from flapping violently while you're adjusting the halyard and reefing lines. At the end of your day's sailing simply ease the halyard and tighten up the lazyjacks: the battens will keep the sail inside the lazyjacks running from the mast to the boom without need for any other intervention. |

The Easi-Stow Mainsail is a fully battened sail that gives more camber and retains a constant aerodynamic profile over a wide range of wind intensities, thanks to its extruded fibreglass battens. | ||

A standard mainsail has either standard length leech battens, or one full length top batten, or a combination of full length and leech battens. The sail is horizontally cut from Dacron or Vectran. The radial cut cruising main is cut from either Polyester, Spectra or Pentex laminates and can have any combination of batten configurations
